One of the most common questions we are asked is what is the best size suitcase for me? Below you'll find information that answers a few common questions and will help you make the right decision.
What's included in the advertised dimensions of the suitcase?
The vast majority of dimensions listed on Go Places are the external dimensions of a suitcase which includes the wheels and the carry handles. The dimensions do not included the telescopic trolley handle when it has been extended. The height dimensions are usually taken from the bottom of the wheel to the top of the top carry handle and the width dimensions include the side handle. Some cases will have dimensions listed that exclude the wheels and this is noted on the Go Places website.
Generally, the wheels add 5-6 centimetres to the size of the case.
When you are replacing an old case where the wheels are integrated into the case you should remember that most new cases, with the exception of 2-wheel cabin cases, will have less packing capacity because the wheels will generally be attached to the bottom of the case for easy manoeuvering.
What case is suitable for my holiday?
This answer to this question depends on how long your holiday is, where you are travelling at what time of year and whether you are a light or heavy packer. We generally advise the following:

Do the same size suitcases have the same capacity?
Not all suitcases that have the same dimensions have the same capacity. This is generally down to the material that is being used and the internal compartments, so it is always worth checking the capacity of a case.

Free Delivery for orders over £50 for mainland UK except Scottish Highlands
Go Places offers free delivery on all orders with a value over £50 (before any shipping charges are calculated). We have many items in stock in our warehouse that available for next day delivery and we also display items that are in stock at our supplier that we order in specifically.
Items that we order from our supplier are generally delivered within a 5-7 working day timeframe.
Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands
Our courier charges us extra to deliver to these areas, so we have to charge for the delivery service. Delivery to these areas takes between 2-5 days. A summary of the charges can be found further down this page.
Orders under £50
We charge £4.95 delivery for all orders under £50. All orders are sent using DPD Local and will require a signature.
We despatch orders Monday - Friday with many of our products in stock and ready to ship. If we receive your order by 3:00pm then we will ship your order on the same day (subject to payment being approved). Orders placed after 3:00pm will be despatched the following working day. All orders placed after 3:00pm on Friday, any time on the weekend, or on a public holiday will be despatched the next working day. If an item is extremely urgent please feel free to contact us on 01403 713332 to confirm that the item is in stock.
When we despatch your order you will automatically receive shipping notification via email and if you have left a mobile number as a contact then we will pass this on to our courier who will send you text updates. Our courier normally sends customers a text on the morning of delivery with the 1-hour delivery timeslot so you can plan your day.
* Please note the stated delivery times does not include weekends and bank holidays. The 1 hour delivery window is for mainland locations only and is decided by courier based on their deliveries for the day. It may not be available in some remote areas or in adverse weather conditions. Go Places cannot accept responsibility for any failure of the carrier to arrive within the stated time.
** If you need your delivery to arrive before midday then please call us to place your order because there will be an additional courier charge.
Saturday & Sunday Deliveries
We can deliver to you on the weekend for a flat rate of £10. Please note: this service is only available on orders placed Monday-Friday. Sunday delivery can't be organised for orders placed on a Saturday. We apologise for this inconvenience at this time.

Need to return an item? No problem!
If you've purchased the wrong item be it size or colour or you just don't like it, then we're more than happy to exchange it or refund your money. Please bear in mind the following:
* Any returned for a refund or exchange must be received by us in a new and unused condition in the original supplier's packaging and packed with care (many items come in a protective plastic bag that protects it from transit damage / scuffs, so please return the item in the bag and in the original box). If we receive items without packaging as supplied, with unattached or missing labels, or damaged then we reserve the right to refuse the exchange or refund.
Damaged or incorrectly supplied items
In the unlikely event that a product arrives damaged or we have supplied an incorrect item please contact us on 01403 713332 or firstname.lastname@example.org and we will organise to collect the item and send a replacement/correct item.
Within 30 Days:
In the event of an item being faulty within 30 days of purchase we will arrange for the item to be collected free of charge for inspection by the manufacturer. If the item is deemed be faulty then we will replace or refund the item.
After 30 Days
Customers can either contact the manufacturer directly to claim on the warranty or Go Places can deal with the manufacturer on your behalf. Faulty items can be returned to us at the customer's expense and we will organise for the item to be checked by the manufacturer. We will send back any items to you free of charge.
***All faulty items returned to us will be checked by the manufacturer of the item and if the item(s) has failed due to a manufacturing fault then the item(s) will either be repaired, replaced or refunded. Please note: warranties cover defects in materials and do not cover airline damage, misuse or neglect.
Suitcase manufacturers extensively test their items so that they are fit for purpose and their warranties cover this. This means that if a lock, zip, wheels or trolley handles develop a fault then these are covered by manufacturer warranties. These warranties do not cover extreme damage or misuse, or damage caused by airlines such as cracked or ripped cases. Go Places recommends that if you travel by air, then you check your suitcase for cracks or rips before leaving the airport. If you do find cracks or rips then make a claim with the airline before leaving the airport.
Items returned to Go Places
Go Places is not liable for items that are damaged or lost when being sent back to us. If the item is new, then it must be returned in the original packaging with tags, or if you are sending an older item for a warranty claim/repair then it must be put in suitable packaging.

5 Year Warranty
Each week we receive calls and emails asking us what is covered by suitcase warranties. Nearly all suitcase manufacturers offer a limited warranty and we will explain what is and isn't covered in 2 sections below: Suitcase Components and Suitcase Shells. This article is meant as general guidance and manufacturers will inspect the case and reserve the right to reject claims if they feel the damage has not been caused in ‘general wear and tear’.
Suitcases manufacturers rigorously their products to meet the needs of modern travellers, but occasionally a component can break such as a zip, a handle, telescopic trolley handle, integrated lock or wheels. In these instances the manufacturer will inspect the product during the warranty period and either fix or replace the product.
An important aspect of warranties that all travellers should be aware of, especially air travellers, is the suitcase shell (both hard-sided or soft-sided). Most warranties do not cover damage to the shell of a suitcase unless it is caused by a manufacturing defect. Manufacturers put their cases through stringent tests, but if a case is subjected to extreme stress during travel, such as coming in contact against a sharp object at force, then cracks and rips can occur. We receive calls from customers in this situation who are unaware of warranty conditions, so we recommend the following steps:
There are some manufacturers who offer guarantees that include damage caused by airlines, for example Briggs & Riley and certain products by Victorinox.
